Ms. Mavis Lo
M Plus Museum Limited
Head, Museum Retail
Mavis is a museum retail and brand leader whose work spans merchandise design, product development, and retail experience design, focused on creating measurable value at the intersection of culture and commerce. She is currently Head of Retail at Hong Kong’s M+ Museum, where she sees retail as an extension of curatorial practice and design thinking—translating exhibitions and cultural narratives into highly collectible, well-crafted product ranges and in-store journeys that deepen audience connection and drive sustainable revenue growth across both physical and digital channels.
With extensive experience across IP, brand collaborations, and marketing-led design, she leads end-to-end product development from concept to launch, covering creative direction, category and assortment strategy, materials and craftsmanship, packaging, and production and scale-up oversight—while safeguarding IP integrity and the spirit of the artists and their work. Her collaboration portfolio includes major international brands and cultural IP such as Adidas, Rimowa, Fred Perry, Dr. Martens, Disney, Sanrio, LINE FRIENDS, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, among others.
Grounded in curatorial context, she has contributed to numerous exhibition-linked product programs, with inspirations ranging from I. M. Pei’s architectural legacy to the works of Yayoi Kusama and Pablo Picasso.
She pioneered a milestone by bringing Hong Kong original fashion design to the London Fashion Week stage for the first time, turning cultural content into tangible commercial outcomes through capsule concepts and retail experiences. In talent development and academia–industry engagement, she supports emerging designers through collaborations with Tsinghua University and Central Saint Martins, and serves as a design competition judge.
