Go Beyond Design Profession
An excellent designer does not only have expertise in design—Yukie Jim, a student of the Hong Kong Design Institute, knows this well, as the knowledge she used for designing the game MAZE Power is far beyond what can be learnt in design classes.

MAZE Power is the combination of building and puzzle games, in which elementary school students complete the routes of the maze by combining several pieces. The game has a complex composition with more than 400 levels. Yukie picked her physics textbooks up again since she graduated from her middle school, only to confirm that her design idea is feasible.

Welcome the Challenges
Mastering extensive knowledge and creating products wanted by people is important for designers, but students can only gain entry-level computer or technology knowledge in design schools, “The teachers are neither scientists nor engineers. It is too harsh to expect them to teach much on the topics,", said Beam Sir, Yukie's teacher.

When designers have to be spontaneous to acquire other knowledge, Yukie's open-mindedness is worthy to learn from, "Though we have to get to touch on different fields, I see it more as a challenge than a difficulty."
