Compasses are necessary drawing tools for many, but the design has a large room of improvement. The needles cause paper perforation, while the single size is not conducive to large-scale artworks. The founder of Ddiin, Sofia Lee, decided to take the first step to tackle these problems, by designing the Exlicon MX - Draw Without Boundary Design Tool.

Needles are replaced by reusable nanosticker attached to the base to hold the disc and ruler; It can be connected to each other to form a superposition of radii and cover A0 size paper. The tool also has many functions, such as drawing up to 120 patterns of different sizes and shapes, and allowing a ruler to cut circles without cutting through the papers.

Facilitating Communication through Design
As a practical tool, compasses can be applied to the work processes of artists, designers, drawing lovers and drawing beginners. Sofia regards it as an entry point to facilitate communication among these parties. “While the same tool is used, the finished product can be completely different. Users can exchange ideas on how to use this drawing tool, and further share about their own artist styles with each other,” said Sofia.
