Smart Design Global (SDG) Awards 2026 Officially Launched
Hong Kong, 28 January 2026 – The Smart Design Global (SDG) Awards 2026 was officially launched today, marking a significant new chapter for Hong Kong’s flagship design competition as it enters its 15th year with a bold rebranding and upgraded vision.
Organised by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the newly rebranded SDG Awards aims to become a powerful springboard that connects local creativity with global opportunities.
With the theme of “Design with Purpose”, this year’s programme introduces a comprehensive dual-phase approach: a high-quality design competition followed by concrete support to help winners expand into international markets through overseas trade shows and exhibitions.
New On-site Exhibition & Judging Format
In a major upgrade, all shortlisted entries will be given a dedicated display space at the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair (27–30 April 2026). Finalists will not only showcase their competition pieces but also their hero products and full collections, enabling direct engagement with thousands of international buyers and industry professionals.
Making its debut this year, the final adjudication will be held on-site on 27 April 2026, the first day of the fair. This new format allows finalists to present their designs in person to the judging panel, fostering valuable face-to-face interaction and professional feedback.
Winners will further benefit from opportunities to exhibit at major overseas trade shows and receive prototype subsidies to turn their innovative concepts into market-ready products.
Call for Entries Now Open
The SDG Awards 2026 is now open for applications across four dynamic categories under the Corporate Group, as well as the Conceptual Group:
• Live – Designs that enhance living spaces and personal style
• Dine – Innovative kitchenware and dining experiences
• Gift – Meaningful and memorable gifts for personal and corporate use
• Play – Recreational, educational and cross-generational products
Application Deadline: 10 March 2026 (Tuesday)
