Sam Leong: To Win with Quality

As a product designer, are you going to sacrifice quality for a lower cost in the face of fierce market competition? Sam Leong, founder of Teckon Audio, refuses to do so. He insists on providing high-quality audio devices to people.

What is the Real Need of Customers?
To compete by lowering the price is not good. What customers care about is the quality of the products.” said Sam. Words alone are no proof. Sam observed the sales of Teckon Audio products of different prices, and found out that most customers do not mind spending a little more money in exchange for a relatively high sound quality.

Another way to reduce costs, besides scarifying the sound quality, is to stick in a rut in colors and patterns for easy mass production. Of course, this is not favored by users. Teckon Audio instead provides earphones with a variety of patterns, like feminine designs and sports series. Products can even be customized according to the wish of customers.

Good Quality at a Reasonable Price
Earphones are never a luxury good. How can they be kept at a reasonable price when sound quality and appearance are indispensable? Sam encountered difficulties at the beginning, "For example, the design pattern is too small to print on a flat surface in batches. I have tried to cooperate with many factories to compare the printing.”

Continuous attempts made him master the method of production. Cost control is easier at present, for Teckon Audio has entered a mature stage in terms of sound technology, and constantly evolved in terms of technique in design.

Product designers are pursuing high quality rather than lowering the cost. What the good news to Hong Kong consumers!
