Prof Tong Huiming used to be the dean of the School of Innovation Design, dean of the School of Design in the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He also successively served as the vice president of Guangdong Industrial Design Association, the chairman of the 5th-8th Guangdong "Governor's Cup" Industrial Design Competition. From 2017-2021, he has been the member of the international jury joined Japan GOOD DESIGN AWARD. In 2024, he being the Chinese chairman of the " Top 10 of the Brand Driven by Design " selecting jury of the BDA (Better Design Award) support by Guangdong province government, Guangzhou and Shenzhen government.

For more than 40 years, Prof. Tong has been engaged the design education, research and practice, and on the basis of long-term attention to the trend of industrial design change, he put forward the "Brand Driven by Design" concept in 2017, with established the research platform BDDWATCH in early 2018. Over the past 6 years, it has successively published 80 BDDCase research articles, hosted 6 BDDMuseum exhibitions, 6 BDDForum, 52 BDDLive, and 10 BDDSpotlight live, effectively promoting the development of China's BDD enterprises.
