The Professional Laymen
The STEAM teaching aids on the market are not necessarily made by the engineers proficient in programming. The designers of Tech Box by TIEBUSA, Mimi Ngai and Monica Lee, are both business graduates. While they called themselves as laymen, they understood the needs of ordinary school children and thus designed the DIY Christmas Wreath – Inventor Set.

Since they found it difficult to acquire the coding skills, Mimi and Monica are more inclined to add games and DIY elements in their designs of STEAM teaching aid, compared with professionals who master programming, “the hardship we encountered drove us to make the STEAM learning easy and interesting,”, Mimi recalls. In the DIY set, users may mix and match to design their own wreath, including the shapes and light patterns, by crafting and coding.

Create Quality Family Time
Through handcrafting and designing, Monica hopes that children will experience both the satisfaction of doing creative work and a better parent-child interaction, “Children nowadays often use tablets alone. Why not spend the Christmas holidays with parents to make a festive home accessory, and even learn together?”, Monica suggests.
