Blending Old and New
Revolutionary technologies support new product development, but in the eyes of Irene Yeung, the designer of Derangedsign, design is inseparable from art. The COEXISTENCE trays have incorporated Chinese philosophy. Made of stainless steel, the curved shapes of the trays imitate a natural landscape with mountains and valleys.

Designs Touch the Hearts
Design ideas often emerge in the process of addressing the need of users, which are not limited to the needs in daily life. A wonderful reminiscence to the nature is weaved by the highly polished trays. "Design is not only to improve life quality. It is about art and spiritual comfort,", said Irene.

The principle of Coexistence is not reflected only by the final product, but throughout the whole design and production process. Irene and her team have conducted detailed research before figuring how to make two different stainless-steel trays that can be used separately and assembled by a single set of molds. While 3D printing may be faster in solving the technical difficulties, Irene believes in the value of traditional craftsmanship, "As stainless-steel technology is also making progress, what I want to do is to seek breakthroughs in tradition. We shall neither staying in the past, nor forgetting the past,", she said.
