Dr. Allen Zhang is a PhD graduate in Biology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. With a specialisation in urban forestry and urban horticultural ecology, he has participated in numerous research projects in these fields. In 2014, he joined the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). He held the position of Acting Dean in the Faculty of Design and Environment in 2023. Currently, he serves as the Head of the School of General Education and Languages at THEi, as well as the Programme Leader of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Degree in Horticulture, Arboriculture, and Landscape Management under the Department of Construction, Environment, and Engineering.

Since 2017, Dr Zhang has been serving as the Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Horticultural Science, actively promoting the development of the landscape and arboriculture profession in Hong Kong. He also provides consulting services to various local organisations. With his expertise and experience, Dr Zhang contributes significantly to the advancement of the horticultural industry and plays a vital role in shaping the future of urban greening and sustainable landscaping in Hong Kong.
